Inspired Leadership

Christian leadership in nursing practice: a day conference for nurses, midwives and students

26 October 2013, St Mark's Church, Gabalfa, Cardiff

The quality of leadership in a nursing or midwifery team profoundly influences patient care, team morale and the future development of team members. Recent scandals highlight the devastating impact of poor leadership on care delivered to patients. Quality example, supervision, good management and interpersonal skills are essential in an effective leader. Today leadership if often seen as being about power and status, knowledge and control. The Biblical understanding of leadership offers a refreshing and challenging alternative vision. The Christian nurse/midwife has something special to bring to their leadership as a consequence. This day conference sets out to envision those who are seeking to develop a godly framework for their work. This is relevant at every level, from students preparing for a career in nursing or midwifery, to the senior nurse or midwife, and at every point in between. There will be inspiration, refreshment and a chance to exchange experiences and learning.

When: 12:30-16:00, Saturday 6 July 2012

What: Annual General Meeting of Christian Nurses and Midwives

This year's AGM will be at our offices in central London, and is open to all CNM members, student and qualified.

The afternoon will start with a lunch and time to meet one another, the staff and Council.  We will be presenting on the work, vision, and direction of the fellowship, as well as electing Council members and voting on some changes to our constitution.  There will also be time for prayer, for one another and for the work of CNM.

This is your fellowship - we want to hear from you about what you see as the best way we can support one another in our faith, witness and service of God in our professions.  What are we doing right, what are we doing wrong, what could we do better, and what are we not doing that needs doing?

The day is free and open to all members - but please let us know in advance if you are planning to attend for catering purposes.  Non-members are welcome to attend, but will not be able to vote.

Member will also be able to vote for Council and constitutional issues by electronic or postal ballot if they cannot attend the meeting in person.

Details of those standing for Council can be found here

If you are interested in standing for Council, are a signed up member, and have one other member who will second your nomination, please contact the CNM office on 020 7234 9668 or email info@cnm.org.uk

Integrated

The Bible in professional life, a day conference.
Saturday 8 June 2013
All Souls Langham Place

  • A conference to inspire, stretch and challenge
  • A change to network with others in similar professional fields
  • A call to integrate God's Word deeply into every aspect of our working lives
With Bible teaching by Mark O'Donaghue and Chris Wright, and networking workshops for Christians in professions as diverse as law, teaching, medicine, midwifery and nursing, this will be an excellent opportunity for Christian nurses to explore further how our faith shapes and informs our working lives, and to meet with other Christians working in nursing, midwifery, and other aspects of healthcare.

National Students Conference

CNM is sad to announce that we have had to cancel our conference 15-17 February 2013 at King's Park Conference Centre, Northampton, due to insufficient bookings.

We are planning to run other events in the coming year in London and Cardiff, and we will be releasing more details very shortly. We also hope to get the same speaker to share on the same passages some time in the autumn.

Watch this space for more information in the coming weeks.
