But it has also been apparent that having two organisations running the ministry in tandem has been practically difficult, busier for the staff, and sometimes confusing for members. It has also not always been clear whether people are joining CMF or CNM or both.
As a result there has been prayerful discussion between the CNM Council and CMF Board for the last few months about how we can best move forward. After considerable prayer, discussion and heart searching we have mutually agreed that all of CNM’s ministry be brought under the banner of CMF, that all CNM members become nurse and midwife associate members of CMF, and that CNM become dormant for the time being.
You will notice few real changes in practice – your subscription will not change, you will receive the same journals and literature by post and email, but none of it will now carry the CNM name or logo. You will have access to the same events and resources. The CNM website will move over to become part of the CMF website, but will contain much of the same content. You can see the new CMF Nurses pages here
You need do nothing more, the transfer will be automatic unless you specifically request not to become a CMF nursing & midwifery associate member.
We are making these changes in the hope that our vision to see a strong, nationwide movement and fellowship of Christians in nursing in midwifery will be better achieved by this arrangement. In time a separate nursing and midwifery fellowship may emerge afresh, or both CMF and CNM may fully merge to create a doctors, nurses and midwives fellowship. We trust the Lord to guide us in this.
Questions, concerns, comments and prayers are all gratefully received at info@cnm.org.uk
